CAA Rules Communicated Today

CAA creates a buzz as per the sources

According to sources, the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) rule is anticipated to be announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday. The Narendra Modi administration implemented the CAA laws in 2019 to enable those who meet the requirements to become citizens of India.

Following the Citizenship Act’s revision, there was a large-scale backlash against the action in India. An online platform has been created to make the entire process of registering for citizenship under CAA regulations mandatory, an official informed news agency ANI.

“The regulations are prepared, and an online portal is already set up for the entire process, which will be conducted digitally. Applicants will need to disclose the year of their entry into India without any travel documents. No additional documentation will be required from the applicants,” ANI quoted the official as saying.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a speech to the country on Monday night. The prime minister may make a few significant announcements during his speech.

About CAA laws

Persecuted non-Muslim migrants, such as Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians, who came to India before December 31, 2014, from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan are granted Indian citizenship under the CAA regulations.

An official stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs can notify qualified individuals to apply for Indian citizenship, thereby putting the CAA statute into effect.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been requesting continuances from the legislative committees to finish the process of crafting the rules related to the CAA law in order to finish the related regulations. The extensions were granted in accordance with the parliamentary procedural handbook, which mandates that guidelines be developed within six months following the president’s consent. Otherwise, the government should have sought an extension from the Committees on Subordinate Legislation in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
