In a move welcomed by drivers across the country, petrol and diesel prices have been reduced by ₹2 per litre. This is the first nationwide change in fuel prices since May 2022. The revised prices will be in effect starting tomorrow, Friday, March 15th, at 6:00 am.
This announcement comes from the Union petroleum minister, Hardeep Singh Puri. In the national capital, Delhi, petrol prices will decrease to ₹94.72 per litre, while diesel will cost ₹87.62 per litre.
“By slashing petrol and diesel prices by ₹2 (per litre), prime minister Narendra Modi has once again shown that providing welfare and convenience to his family of crores of Indians, has always been his goal,” Puri wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The last time India saw a nationwide revision in fuel prices was on May 21st, 2022. Back then, the government reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹8 and ₹6 per litre, respectively.
